چکیده
Abstract The water use by short rotation coppices (SRC) has been a focus of ongoing research in the last decades. Nevertheless, investigations that consider site factors and present long-term monitoring components balance are rare. This quantified tree-based transpiration 4th growing season uncoppiced 1st rotational hybrid poplar stands ( Populus deltoides Bart. ex Marsh × P. nigra L . “AF2”) western Slovakia. aim study was to determine influence meteorological soil-related conditions on rates. Three experimental plots were located Morava River floodplains, loamy sand-textured soils with different groundwater accessibilities: higher, low, fluctuating level. We measured sap flow (Heat Ratio Method), volumetric content, matric potential, level, variables throughout 2019. results indicated three sites almost constant during period, which characterized distinct conditions. average cumulative at higher level (1105 mm) larger than lower (632 (863 mm). A principal component analysis (PCA) correlation identified contribution differed among sites. Soil availability accessibility critical for SRC. concluded combination needs be reconsidered expansion sustainable plantations Europe.

Phytotoxicity of chlorinated aliphatics to hybrid poplar (Populus deltoides x nigra DN34).
Effects of a series of chlorinated ethenes and ethanes on hybrid poplar (Populus deltoides x nigra DN34) were assessed in laboratory experiments. Poplar cuttings were grown in sealed reactors with hydroponic solutions and were exposed to a chlorinated solvent for a period of two weeks. Exposure concentrations ranged from 0 to 0.4 mM for perchloroethylene to 0 to 8.4 mM for 1,1-dichloroethane. E...
متن کاملStructure, inheritance, and expression of hybrid poplar (Populus trichocarpa x Populus deltoides) phenylalanine ammonia-lyase genes.
A heterologous probe encoding phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) was used to identify PAL clones in cDNA libraries made with RNA from young leaf tissue of two Populus deltoides x P. trichocarpa F1 hybrid clones. Sequence analysis of a 2.4-kb cDNA confirmed its identity as a full-length PAl clone. The predicted amino acid sequence is conserved in comparison with that of PAL genes from several oth...
متن کاملVariation in Wood Properties and Growth in Some Clones of Populus deltoides Bartr. ex Marsh
The present paper deals with within ramet radial, intraand inter-clonal variations in the wood element’s dimensions and specific gravity of 10 clones of Populus deltoides Bartr. ex Marsh. The growth parameters namely ramet height and DBH were also considered for the study. Study material was collected from the 10 clones of Populus deltoids raised by WIMCO Plantations Ltd. at Rudrapur (Udhamsing...
متن کاملResponses of Populus× euramericana (P. deltoides×P. nigra) clone Adda to increasing copper concentrations
We investigated the effect of high copper (Cu) concentrations on poplar woody cuttings (Populus× euramericana) clone Adda in order to estimate the degree of metal tolerance. Metal accumulation was also investigated to determine where and to what extent Cu is stored within the plant. Plant responses to Cu were determined comparing biomass growth and photosynthetic potential measured at concentra...
متن کاملGenetic variation of stomatal traits and carbon isotope discrimination in two hybrid poplar families (Populus deltoides 'S9-2' x P. nigra 'Ghoy' and P. deltoides 'S9-2' x P. trichocarpa 'V24').
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Stomata play an important role in both the CO(2) assimilation and water relations of trees. Therefore, stomatal traits have been suggested as criteria for selection of clones or genotypes which are more productive and have larger water-use efficiency (WUE) than others. However, the relationships between plant growth, WUE and stomatal traits are still unclear depending on pla...
